This piece appeared in the Sept. 9, 1972 edition of TV Guide.
The cast looks like their having a good time. Little did they know the show they were working on would become a cultural phenomenon in just a few years.
Its interesting that the photographer and/or the cast and studio made no effort to convey the show's relationships in this photo--Hot Lips is goofing around with Hawkeye and Trapper, and Frank looks like a fun guy, part of the gang!

This was from the special FALL SEASON PREVIEW issue, right? I used to love those issues of TV Guide. They were the only ones I ever got for years (my parents wouldn't buy TV Guide because we got a perfectly fine television guide for free in the paper).
Back in the day, the Fall Preview issue was what we had instead of the Internet. How else could one get all those previews of coming series and behind the scenes info? Nowadays we hear about new shows before the pilot script has even been completed.
Along the same lines, I miss showing up at the newsstand and being surprised by new comic books. These days, everybody knows in March what comics are coming out in June. Ah, but that's a topic for another blog... ;-)
Yeah, previews were sweet. I used to live for the Saturday Morning cartoon preview show networks would do on the previous Friday night...
