M*A*S*H's Greatest Hits: Klinger

Okay M*A*S*H fans, it's Week Seven of our Greatest Hits series, and it's Klinger's turn!

Below are what I think represent Klinger's ten best episodes from his time on the show. As before, you can click the link to revisit each episode's recap, and then go ahead and vote in the poll in the sidebar!

Klinger is hard because his best moments on "M*A*S*H" were often bits in larger shows, like "Big Mac," which I remember Jamie Farr choosing as his favorite show when WNEW/Channel 5 ran a series of cast favorites back in 1980. But Farr would have agreed it's not Klinger's show, any more than "Abyssinia, Henry" was Radar's.

    I think "Follies Of The Living-Concerns Of The Dead" does a very good job with Klinger's character as plot fulcrum, and is, for me, one of the few late-period episodes that holds up in the company of Seasons 1-6. It shows how well Farr could balance funny with serious when given room. I pick that.

  2. I agree. One of my favorite Klinger moments is in SSN 6's "War of Nerves", but its such a small scene in the episode that I really couldn't justify putting it on the 10 Best list. But its probably my single favorite Klinger moment in all 11 seasons.
